Portuguese is the official language of 9 countries: Angola, Cape Verde, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique and São Tomé and Príncipe, in Africa; Brazil, in South America; Portugal, in Europe; and East Timor, in Oceania.

Portuguese is also one of the official languages of Macao, in the Popular Republic of China, Asia.
